Luedinghausen Castle

The castle was constructed as ancestral seat for the masters of Lüdinghausen in the 12th-century and in the 16th-century under Gottfried von Raesfeld rebuilt to a typical Renaissance castle. Today the castle is being used, among others, by the VHS (adult education), for exhibitions and council meetings. The large hall, which is decorated richly with coat-of-arms, is being used for concerts. The tower and the west wing stem from the late 19th-century.

Some interesting building details stem from the 16th-century. In the facade there is a list hewn into the stone of food prices from the years 1573/74, different coat-of-arms and an inscription about the city fire in the year 1569.

The castle's upper rooms combine building tradition with modern elements and are partly furnished to serve as conference rooms. Today, the castle belongs to the city of Lüdinghausen.
